Welcome to the Janesville Child Development Center!
The center offers a TTH, MWF, and M-F full day program from 8:15-3:15. This inclues preschool in the morning and extended care in the afternoon. It also offers a TTH a.m., TTH p.m., MWF preschool only class. Registrations for these classes will be taken on a first-come basis using the following timeline. To be eligible, your child must be three years of age by September 15 of the year of attendance and be potty trained. You do not need to be in the Janesville School District to attend.
The timeline for registration is:
Sept.- May: (1 year prior to attending) Open to children in the Janesville Cons. School District, children open enrolled to Janesville, and the children currently enrolled.
May-June: Open to siblings of children currently or previously enrolled.
June 1: Open to everyone.
The registration fee guarantees the spot you sign your child up for. If you make changes at a later time, it may result in being put on a waiting list depending on availability.
If child care is needed between 7:00-8:15 a.m. and 3:15-5:30 p.m., we have a latch key program that is in the same room as preschool. You are charged an hourly rate for latch key depending on how much you use the program. You will be given a bill at the end of the month. For preschool with extended care and/or preschool you pay a set amount of nine equal payments (September-May). The payments are due the first of each month with a late charge after the 10th. We hope all your needs can be met with the various programs.
Your preschool child is welcome to ride the bus if you live in the district in the morning or home when school is dismissed at 3:15.
Please contact Stacey Mack at the center at 987-2581 or at home 352-5821, if you have any questions. We look forward to working with you and your child.
The units are on a two year rotating cycle so that children that attend two years in a row will be learning a variety of things. The units vary from year to year depending on the children's interest. Some of the units taught include: Bears, Transportion, Nursery Rhymes, Dinosaurs, Fairy Tales, Farm, Fire Safety, Colors/Shapes, Friendship, Dr. Seuss, Circus, Families, Senses, Self-Concept/Our Bodies, Feelings/Problem Solving, and Seasons.
All areas of the curriculum are incorporated into the units. We work on math, literacy, science concepts, social studies, language development, motor skills (fine and gross), social/emotional development. We also do a lot with music and movement to enhance learning. We experience with a variety of art forms using numerous materials. Role playing and problem solving play a key part in learning appropriate social skills.
We also use the Creative Curriculum which meets the standards for the Quality Preschool guidelines.
